    Accepted for Anthophile

    Accepted for Anthophile

I only recently learned of Anthophile magazine, a UK publication which “explores the close relationship each person has with plants and flowers”. It felt like a natural fit for my poem “The Language of Flowers—” (previously published in the fifteenth issue of The Minison Zine)… and to my delight, the editor seems to agree. That short piece will be appearing in print for the first time this autumn (northern spring). Again, I’ll share more details when I can.

    Accepted for BULLSHIT

Some great news — my short story, “(In)authentic Augur”, will be appearing in the Second BULLSHIT Anthology from BULLSHIT Lit! The print anthology is due to release in winter (northern summer) 2023. I look forward to sharing more details as soon as I can.

    Three Print Publications

    Three Print Publications

A particularly belated update…! Since last I wrote, three more of my pieces have been published.

July saw the release of Vocivia Magazine‘s ‘Chronos’ issue, in which my short story “A Hitch in Time (Is Not Fine)” can be read in glossy print or online. Please consider buying a physical copy, because the editors have done a fantastic job adding value through fun extras you won’t get online.

“If the Shoe Fits(?)” saw print in the gorgeous ‘Bodies’ issue of Swim Press back in August. The limited-time print run has sold out, but digital editions are now available from the Swim Press online store.

I was also privileged to have “If the Shoe Fits(?)” reprinted in the 2022 edition of Damsel magazine — also themed ‘Body’! Print editions were distributed locally. The issue has been hosted online but access appears to be restricted at present.

More recently, the Vocivia editors were kind enough to feature me on their social media this Valentine’s Day:

A sample of @calliopium’s short fiction piece, "A Hitch in Time (Is Not Fine)", from Issue 2: CHRONOS!

Read the rest of this piece and more in Issue 2: CHRONOS on our website: https://t.co/bC7Q7ey7dE pic.twitter.com/2hxvc1bJYm

There is a lot more in the works, but updates may remain sporadic for a while. Watch this space…

“A Perfectly Worldly Poison” in Oranges Journal

“A Perfectly Worldly Poison” in Oranges Journal

It’s been a winter full of releases for me—most recently, my short story “A Perfectly Worldly Poison” appeared in the virtual pages of Oranges Journal. (Please be advised that the linked story includes themes of addiction and suicide.)

It’s more solemn in tone than some of my other pieces which have been published so far, but it is built on the same themes. I hope you’ll give it a read.

This also marks my second time working with a citrus-themed publication. Coincidentally, the two pieces meet at a certain point, too…
